In 1979, in a small town in Ohio, a group of teenagers embarks on an exciting cinematic adventure. During the summer, these friends dedicate themselves to making their own zombie movie in 8mm. While on an abandoned railway track to film a key scene, they witness a spectacular train derailment. However, what they discover next is even more surprising: a mysterious creature escapes from the disaster, unleashing a series of strange and terrifying events in their quiet home.
As the kids try to understand what they have witnessed, they yearn to get involved in the situation, and they increasingly find themselves caught up in a puzzle that goes beyond their film. At the same time, the town begins to experience inexplicable disappearances and unsettling phenomena. Meanwhile, the adults, including the teenagers' parents, grow increasingly worried and distrustful of the government, which is aware of what happened on the train tracks.
The friends, led by Joe, a boy grappling with the recent loss of his mother, face their own demons as they try to capture the essence of adventure in their film while also attempting to help unravel the mystery behind the creature that is haunting their town. Friendship, courage, and the value of chasing your dreams intertwine in a coming-of-age story that unfolds with a blend of nostalgia and excitement.
