The Swimmer

On a hot summer day, a well-dressed man known as Ned Merrill decides to give an exciting twist to his life by embarking on a peculiar journey through the swimming pools of his neighbors in an upscale suburb. What begins as a carefree adventure transforms into a profound exploration of his past and his relationships. As he swims from pool to pool, Ned encounters old friends and acquaintances, which stirs up memories of happy moments, as well as decisions and traumas that have marked him.

With each stop, the atmosphere becomes increasingly tense and nostalgic. Through revealing conversations and unexpected encounters, Ned begins to unravel the disintegration of his personal life, his financial troubles, and the difficulties in his marriage. With every stroke in the water, he also feels the shadow of loneliness and loss looming over him.

Ned's journey is not only physical but also emotional and psychological, marking the contrast between his idealized suburban world and the bitter reality he faces. With an innovative approach and a poetic tone, this story is a lament for despair and a quest for redemption. In his challenging odyssey, which pushes him to the brink, Ned ultimately confronts the truth about himself and the choices that have led him to this crucial moment. The film is a visual and emotional journey that invites reflection on life, time, and the inevitability of loss.
