In a not-so-distant future, a brilliant inventor and professor, Alexander Hartdegen, is obsessed with the idea of time travel. His life takes a tragic turn when his fiancée, Emma, is murdered in a mugging. Devastated by the loss, Alexander immerses himself in his work and decides to create a machine capable of taking him to the past, with the hope of saving Emma. With enthusiasm and determination, he successfully builds his invention, which allows him not only to travel to the past but also to explore the future.
As Alexander ventures through different eras, he discovers that time is a concept much more complex than he had imagined. On his journey to the future, he finds a world marked by chaos and dehumanization, where humans have evolved into two distinct races: the Eloi, vulnerable and carefree beings, and the Morlocks, dark creatures that dwell in the depths and represent a constant threat.
With his time machine at play, Alexander attempts to alter the course of history and confront his own limitations. As he faces the challenges of time and human nature, he realizes that his journey is not just about changing his own past, but about understanding that every decision has a significant impact on the future. The film intertwines science fiction with the exploration of loss, love, and the longing to correct the mistakes of the past.
