In the bustling London of the 1980s, two lonely strangers cross paths in a park and discover that they share an unusual obsession: helping the turtles at the local aquarium. She is a children's book writer, trapped in a plot of heartbreak and monotony; he is a shy and reserved office worker, whose daily life is marked by routine and solitude. Both carry an emotional weight that has led them to suppress their dreams and desires, but the idea of freeing the turtles becomes their catalyst.

At first, their personalities clash: she is spontaneous and dreamy, while he is anxious and realistic. However, as they embark on this peculiar mission, they begin to emotionally bare themselves, confronting their fears and revealing their vulnerabilities. Together, they plan a unique escape to the ocean, defying social norms and nurturing an unexpected connection that blossoms between them.

Through comedic and touching moments, the story explores themes of freedom, friendship, and the pursuit of happiness in a world that often feels oppressive. As their plans for the turtles become complicated and their lives take unexpected turns, both characters find not only a renewed passion for life but also the courage to confront their own wounds. The film becomes an emotional journey that invites the audience to reflect on the importance of pursuing freedom and genuine connections.
