In a city steeped in disillusionment and corruption within the judicial system, a mid-career lawyer, Frank Galvin, finds himself at his lowest point. After a series of failures and a shattered personal life, he is a champion of lost causes with little hope for redemption. However, his fortune changes when he is presented with the case of a young woman in a coma following a negligent medical procedure. The responsible parties are two prestigious doctors and a hospital that seems untouchable, turning his fight into a true challenge against the powerful medical elite.

As Frank investigates the case, he begins to uncover a web of lies and manipulations that will not only test his skills as a lawyer but also his ethics. Facing a mountain of obstacles, from dirty tactics employed by the defense to his own internal demons, Galvin starts to forge a path toward redemption. The story explores themes of justice, morality, and the struggle of the individual against a system that always seems to favor the powerful.

With a star-studded cast that includes Paul Newman, acclaimed for his performance, this film becomes a gripping courtroom drama that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. As Frank delves deeper into the case, he confronts difficult decisions and shocking revelations that will challenge everything he ever believed about justice and his own worth as a human being.
