In a small village in Sicily, the quiet life of its inhabitants is disrupted by the mysterious death of a man. The protagonist, a literature professor with an obsession for mystery novels, becomes the community's amateur detective. As he starts to investigate the case, he realizes that the atmosphere of the village is charged with secrets and hidden resentments that have been simmering for a long time.

The story delves into the professor's life, a somewhat shy and solitary man who, with his passion for literature, attempts to unravel a complex web of suspicions. At every step of his inquiry, he encounters neighbors with curious personalities and contradictions that complicate his understanding of the situation even further. The atmosphere intensifies with each new clue, revealing tensions between old family feuds and the difficult relationship with the local mafia.

With a style that blends noir and comedy, this story offers a biting yet ironic portrait of life in a village where secrets are commonplace. As the professor delves deeper into the mystery, he begins to question his own beliefs about justice and morality, leading him to a shocking and effective conclusion about the true meaning of truth in a world distant and disconnected from his own reality. Will he be able to solve the riddle before becoming part of it?
