In a small English village in the 1960s, three children discover a stranger hiding in a barn. Believing him to be a messenger from God, the siblings, driven by curiosity and imagination, decide to protect him from the authorities. This mysterious outsider, a fugitive seeking shelter, becomes the centerpiece of a fantasy world for the children. As their relationship evolves, each encounter in the barn transforms their lives in unexpected ways.

The story unfolds in a context of childhood innocence and moral exploration. The children, with their pure perspective, try to decipher the truth behind the man and his story, not fully grasping the implications of their actions. Tension escalates as the adults begin to suspect the stranger's presence, leading to a series of events that endanger both the children and the fugitive.

Throughout the film, themes of faith, friendship, and the loss of childhood are explored, all set against the melancholic and poetic backdrop of rural England. The performances of the young actors are endearing and perfectly capture the essence of innocence, while the man's character evokes a mix of compassion and danger. In this tale, reality and fantasy intertwine, inviting the viewer to reflect on the nature of truth and hope.
