In a remote and icy corner of Antarctica, a team of scientists and research staff find themselves trapped in an isolated base during the dark polar winter. Among them is U.S. Marshals agent Carrie Stetko, a woman haunted by her own demons, who has been sent to investigate a series of murders that range from the strange to the horrifying. Soon, Carrie discovers that she must not only contend with the oppressive atmosphere of the place and her own fears, but she also has to face a ruthless killer who is determined to silence her.
As the storm attacks with fury and the thermometer keeps dropping, Carrie becomes the target of the attacker, and every return to the base feels more claustrophobic and violent. Tension mounts when she has to rely on a small group of allies, including a mysterious colleague with a dark past. As each clue brings her closer to the truth behind the crimes, Carrie must unravel an intricate mystery that involves not only the present but also secrets from the past that have been buried in the ice.
With time running out and the lives of everyone at the base hanging by a thread, Carrie will have to confront not only the killer but also her own ghosts, blurring the line between good and evil in a setting where the extreme cold can be deadly in more than one sense.
