In Japan during the first half of the 20th century, a young man named Jiro Horikoshi dreams of designing airplanes. Despite his poor eyesight, his passion for aviation knows no bounds. Since childhood, Jiro has been obsessed with the skies and flying machines, inspired by the works of a famous Italian engineer. Throughout his life, Jiro faces various obstacles, from the pressure of his family to the political and social situations that shape his environment.
As he advances in his career, Jiro falls in love with Nahoko, a young woman who has also been through much in her life. Their romance develops amidst the turbulent reality of Japan, where conflict and technology intertwine in unexpected ways. Their story faces adversity as Nahoko suffers from a serious illness, but their love and shared passion for airplanes become a refuge in difficult times.
With beautiful animation and an evocative soundtrack, the film explores the quest for beauty in art, even amidst war and tragedy. As Jiro becomes a prominent aerospace engineer, he grapples with the moral dilemma of his work: his creations are admired but also used for destruction. This story is an emotional journey that invites reflection on dreams, love, and the choices that defined an era.
