In the bloody context of World War I, a group of young French recruits faces not only the demands of the battlefield but also the harsh reality of war that transforms their ideals of heroism into a struggle for survival. Set against a backdrop of muddy trenches and the constant roar of explosions, the protagonists, ranging from an idealistic dreamer to a cynical pragmatist, are forced to confront their deepest fears and the fragility of life.

The story unfolds through the bond these men forge in the midst of despair and pain. As the circumstances become more uncertain and dangerous, laughter and camaraderie intertwine with inevitable suffering and loss. The plot explores universal themes such as friendship, loyalty, and sacrifice, stripping bare the brutality of war while also depicting the last flickers of youth's innocence.

With poignantly realistic cinematography and a visceral approach, the film takes us on an emotional journey where each character confronts their own fate. Through their experiences, the futility of armed conflicts is brought to light, along with the eternal search for meaning amidst chaos, leaving the viewer with a powerful reflection on sacrifice and human courage.
