Babbitt

In a small American town in the 1920s, a middle-aged man named George F. Babbitt leads an apparently successful life as a real estate agent. With everything he could desire—a family, a good job, and a comfortable home—his days unfold in a routine ebb and flow of business and social meetings. However, behind his facade of respectability, Babbitt feels trapped in a world of conventions and expectations that do not reflect his true self. When his life begins to feel monotonous and meaningless, he allows himself to start questioning his comfortable life and the role he has been playing.

In search of a new adventure and excitement, he explores the seductive possibilities of a freer and more uninhibited life. His journey leads him to form a relationship with a bohemian artist who challenges his perceptions of happiness and success. As he delves deeper into this alternative world, Babbitt confronts the tension between social conformity and the desire for authenticity. With his decisions defying established norms, he will have to deal with the consequences of his choices, leading him to a personal revelation that changes the course of his life.

Through a scathing critique of the consumerist society of the time, this story invites us to reflect on the search for identity and the true meaning of happiness in a world that prioritizes appearances over essence.
