In the 1990s, three childhood friends who have spent their entire lives in a troubled neighborhood of New York decide to form a rap group. With a deep love for music and hip-hop culture, but with no real hope of success, they create a fictional identity that catches the attention of the music scene: three rappers who present an exaggerated gangsta attitude, even though their real lives have nothing to do with that.
Their self-proclaimed band suddenly becomes a viral phenomenon after recording a demo that ends up in the wrong hands. Overnight, they find themselves catapulted to stardom and begin to enjoy the glamour and craziness of fame. Opportunities for television appearances, record deals, and exclusive parties become part of their daily lives. However, their success turns into a trap as they are forced to maintain the facade of βhardβ rappers, despite the fact that their reality is very different.
As they navigate the ups and downs of success, the friends confront their own identity and what it means to be authentic in the entertainment world. Laughter and music intertwine to create a hilarious (and sometimes poignant) portrayal of the pursuit of fame and self-discovery. Though their path may be fraught with complications, in the end, friendship and authenticity prevail.
