In a small village in Japan, a boy named Koichi faces the harsh reality of losing his father, who has gone away to fight in World War II. Daily life becomes a challenge, and Koichi feels completely alone, grappling with the weight of his emotions and the void left by his absence. However, hope arrives in the form of a letter that he decides to write to his dad, filled with memories and yearnings.

As the story unfolds, Koichi embarks on an emotional journey where his letters become his means of connection with the father who is no longer there. Through these writings, the boy begins to understand what loss means, the sadness it brings, but also the strength of family love. His friends and his mother, each dealing with their own pain, become an essential part of his healing process.

The narrative intertwines moments of tenderness, laughter, and even a touch of fantasy, as Koichi imagines situations and encounters with his father. Over time, the letter comes to life, and the relationship between father and son deepens through the words, revealing lessons that transcend even physical separation.

As the war unfolds, the story serves as a beautiful reminder of the connection that can never be broken, showing that the love between a father and his son can withstand even the toughest adversities.
