When two teenagers, Enid and Rebecca, face life after high school, their friendship begins to falter in the face of adult reality. Enid, with her alternative lifestyle and sharp sarcasm, is a disconnected young woman who feels increasingly alienated from social conventions. On the other hand, Rebecca is trying to fit in and find her place in society, which causes a rift between the two.
Everything changes when Enid becomes obsessed with a strange and pathetic record collector, Seymour, a lonely man who embodies everything she despises but, at the same time, awakens a disturbing curiosity within her. As the relationship between Enid and Seymour develops, Enid starts to question her own values and identity, while Rebecca moves toward a more conventional future that includes a new job and more typical relationships.
Enid's internal conflict becomes palpable when she realizes she is caught between two worlds: the acceptance and conformity represented by her friend and the raw authenticity she seeks in Seymour. With a dark yet entertaining tone, the film explores themes of friendship, alienation, and the transition to adulthood, raising questions about what it truly means to fit in a world that seems to be falling apart.
