On a day that starts like any other, Tree Gelbman, a self-centered and somewhat carefree college student, wakes up in the room of a strange guy after a night of partying. However, her day takes a terrifying turn when she is killed by a masked assailant while trying to get home. But instead of dying once and for all, Tree finds herself trapped in a time loop, reliving the same day over and over again. Each time she dies, she wakes up at the same starting point, forcing her to reevaluate her life and her relationships with others.
Determined to find out who wants to kill her, Tree begins to investigate her surroundings, questioning her classmates, and through each of her deaths, she uncovers dark secrets that surround her. In the process, she also confronts her own demons and the decisions that have led her to become the person she is. With each repetition of the day, she not only tries to identify her killer but also seeks redemption and to change her selfish attitude toward life.
As time runs out and the cycle becomes increasingly deadly, Tree must find a way to break the curse before it's too late, learning valuable lessons about friendship, empathy, and the true meaning of living each day as if it were her last.
