In a world where books have the power to come to life, Mo, a passionate bookbinder, harbors a dark secret: he has the ability to bring book characters to life by reading aloud. However, this ability comes with risks, as he discovered years ago when his wife was sucked into a novel and a terrifying villain, Capricorn, escaped into reality. Now, Mo and his teenage daughter, Meggie, are living a normal life when they find themselves caught in chaos as Capricorn returns, seeking Mo to use his power for his own benefit.

When Mo is kidnapped, Meggie, his brave and curious daughter, decides she cannot stand idly by. With the help of her eccentric uncle, a word scholar, and Dustfinger, a character from a book who wishes to return to his story, Meggie embarks on an adventure filled with dangers and revelations. As the pages turn, she learns more about her own heritage and the mysterious connection between her family and the literary world.

With thrilling action, magic, and unexpected twists, the story builds to an epic showdown between the characters of a book and their creators. Meggie will learn that tales can be both a refuge and a trap, and that her courage may be the key to restoring balance between these two worlds. Get your books and your imagination ready, because the adventure is just beginning!
