In a post-war England, the life of Constance Reid, a young and trapped wife of an aristocrat, takes an unexpected turn after her husband’s accident leaves him paralyzed. The monotony of her existence becomes a shackle, while emotional and sexual frustrations grow within her. Longing for more than her husband’s cold company, Constance begins to explore the world around her, a space that seems closed off to women of her position.

By chance, her path crosses that of Parkin, her husband’s park engineer, a rugged and passionate man who exudes a vitality that Constance hasn’t felt in years. What starts as a chance encounter soon evolves into a torrid and forbidden relationship that defies the social norms of the time. As she feels more alive than ever, Constance finds herself torn between duty and desire, between love and obligation.

Set against lush landscapes, the story unfolds into a passionate tale of love, desire, and emancipation. Every encounter between Constance and Parkin becomes an act of rebellion in a world that seeks to suppress their desires. The film delves into the complexities of human intimacy and the pursuit of personal happiness, challenging societal conventions and leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of the audience.
