In a not-so-distant future, a strange epidemic of childhood tuberculosis ravages Manhattan, putting the lives of hundreds of children at risk. To combat the crisis, a group of scientists led by Dr. Susan Tyler devises a radical solution: they create a genetically modified insect known as "the double" that can eradicate the carriers of the disease, cockroaches. However, what seemed like a brilliant idea turns into a disaster when these insects evolve faster than expected, developing astonishing abilities, including the ability to mimic humans.
As the months go by, Susan and her team begin to discover that these "doubles" have not only increased in number but have also started hunting humans, becoming relentless predators. The tension escalates when a group of people becomes trapped in an underground complex in New York. Together, they must confront a threat they never imagined, fighting for their lives while trying to unravel the terrifying secret behind the creature they themselves created.
With an oppressive atmosphere and unexpected twists, the plot unfolds in a cat-and-mouse game where survival is not guaranteed. What started as an attempt to save lives turns into a desperate struggle to escape the horror titled "the creation of man."
