In this romantic comedy from the 1950s, we follow the story of Patricia "Pat" Pritchard, a talented athlete who dreams of becoming a sports star. However, her life becomes complicated when she faces a series of setbacks due to her clumsy and possessive fiancé, who questions her abilities. Despite her talent, Pat constantly feels pressured and underestimated, leading her to put her career on the back burner. Everything changes when she meets Mike Conovan, a shrewd sports agent and former boxing champion.

With a renewed focus, Mike decides to help Pat regain her confidence and trains her to compete in an important event. As they work together, the chemistry between them becomes evident, creating a fun back-and-forth of feelings. Despite their personality differences, Mike and Pat complement each other perfectly, and together they challenge not only the gender stereotypes of the time but also the obstacles that life throws their way.

As they prepare for the big competition, they face rivals both on the court and in their personal lives, where jealousy and insecurity play a significant role. As the event date approaches, both Pat and Mike must find a balance between their athletic aspirations and their budding romantic relationship, leading us to a conclusion that mixes laughter, rivalries, and a good dose of love.
