The Power of the Dog

In the vast and oppressive solitude of the American West in the 1920s, two rancher brothers, Phil and George, lead lives marked by hard work and the pain of a difficult childhood. Phil embodies rough machismo and toughness, while George is calmer and more sensitive. Everything changes when George falls in love with Rose, a widow trying to rebuild her life with her son, Peter. As George brings Rose and Peter to the ranch, Phil can't hide his disdain for them, unleashing a whirlwind of emotions that swings between manipulation and power.

Phil, with his domineering attitude and his black-and-white view of the world, becomes a true psychological antagonist. Meanwhile, Rose, caught between her new love and Phil's contempt, begins to crumble. Amid the tensions, Peter, a young boy with concerns different from the harsh environment surrounding him, becomes an unexpected piece in this complex puzzle.

Set against a backdrop of stunning landscapes, the film explores themes of masculinity, vulnerability, and the inner struggle for love. Family dynamics turn into an emotional battleground, exposing the insecurities and darkest desires of each character. The tension radiates in every scene as relationships twist and secrets come to light, leading to a climax that will change their lives forever. In the end, love and pain intertwine in a raw and disconcerting portrait of human nature.
