In a quiet rural village, a Hollywood screenwriter and his young wife decide to move to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. He seeks inspiration and a place where they can enjoy a simpler life. However, what seemed like an idyllic choice soon turns into a nightmare. Life in the countryside becomes complicated when the man, who has thus far lived a peaceful existence, finds himself at the center of a conflict with a group of local men who have very different ideas about what it means to be a “real man.”
As tension and misunderstanding mount, the screenwriter is forced to confront his own demons and make decisions that challenge his peaceful nature. As the attacks on their property escalate, his wife finds herself caught between her survival instincts and the desire to maintain a normal life. This confrontation culminates in a series of increasingly violent events, leading the protagonists to explore the limits of their morality and the nature of violence.
The atmosphere becomes oppressive, illustrating how brutality can arise in the most unexpected places. The protagonist discovers that, despite his desire to avoid conflict, the struggle for life and dignity pushes him to a boundary he never imagined crossing. The film questions the concept of civilization and the primitive nature that lies within us all.
