At a crucial moment in his life, newly widowed father Benjamin Mee decides it's time for a radical change. Fleeing the pain of loss and wishing to offer his children a new opportunity, he discovers an unusual property: an old, crumbling zoo. Although the idea seems crazy, the vision of reviving this place filled with life and animals gives his life a new purpose. Convinced that a fresh start is what he needs, Benjamin buys the zoo and embarks on the challenging task of restoring it, with the help of his family and a colorful group of employees.
As he tries to tackle not only the task of reviving the zoo but also his own emotional struggles, Benjamin discovers the true meaning of hope and resilience. Along the way, he encounters endearing characters, like the fierce head of the animals and a small group of passionate employees who, along with their creatures, form a unique community. However, difficulties quickly arise, from financial problems to the pressure of animal welfare regulations. Over time, Benjamin learns that sometimes, what is truly needed to heal and find happiness is closer than one might think: love, friendship, and, of course, a good dose of madness. In this journey, he not only revives a zoo but also rekindles his life and that of his children.
