In the 1930s, a young and ambitious doctor, freshly graduated from medical school, faces the challenges of his first residency at a renowned hospital in New York. The story revolves around his attempt to prove his worth in the complex and often chaotic world of medicine. With the help of his mentor, a highly respected veteran physician, he immerses himself in an environment filled with patients with moving stories, ranging from those battling devastating illnesses to dramatic cases that test both his skills and his ethical principles.

As he navigates the pressures of work and personal life, the young doctor also finds time to connect with a sympathetic and strong nurse, who becomes his support amidst the overwhelm. Together, they face disagreements and crises, as well as a series of moral dilemmas that challenge them to redefine their purpose in the profession.

As the plot progresses, the conflicts intensify with a particularly complicated case that challenges both the young doctor's medical knowledge and his faith in his own abilities. The ups and downs of the hospital intertwine with moments of friendship, love, and the pursuit of professional excellence, all while the protagonist struggles to find his place in an environment that seems to be always on the brink of collapse. The film is an exhilarating portrayal of a young man's fight on his path to becoming a renowned physician.
