Two childhood friends, Schmidt and Jenko, reunite after being high school classmates, but now they lead completely different lives. Schmidt is a nerd struggling to fit in, whereas Jenko is a former athlete who feels lost since his college life ended. When they join the police force, they find themselves in an undercover program within a special unit, where their first mission is to infiltrate a high school to dismantle a drug ring.
With their secret identities, the two must relive their school days, but not everything goes as they expected. Teenage life has changed since their time, and social pressure is more intense than ever. While trying to earn the trust of the students and expose the dealers, they face a series of ridiculous situations that test their friendship and sense of justice.
Each chapter in high school means more fun, mishaps, and a couple of lessons about life and friendship. However, as the two friends dive into the world of parties and teenage drama, they begin to question who they really are. In the end, both will have to decide between being the detectives they need to be or accepting that sometimes the past can be just as complicated as the present.
