In this charming Christmas comedy, we follow Elizabeth Lane, a famous food columnist who has created a perfect image of life in the countryside. Her articles in a magazine portray her as a loving mother and an expert in creating delicious home-cooked meals in a cozy Connecticut farm, but the reality is quite different: Elizabeth lives in an apartment in New York City and has neither a husband nor children.
When her boss, delighted by the idea of a Christmas celebration at Elizabeth's idyllic home, decides to invite a war hero, Lieutenant Jefferson Jones, to spend Christmas with her, Elizabeth's life takes an unexpected turn. To avoid ruining her image, she is forced to improvise a grand celebration on a farm that, by the way, she doesnβt have. Elizabeth seeks help from her childhood friend, an engineer, and together they come up with a wild plan that combines culinary disasters, a trio of eccentric characters, and a touch of romantic entanglements.
As the plot unfolds, Elizabeth faces the pressure of maintaining her facade while she begins to genuinely connect with Jefferson, leading her to question her life and the sacrifices she has made for her career. Amidst laughter, misunderstandings, and a bit of romance, this story reminds us of the true spirit of Christmas: the importance of being authentic and valuing what really matters.
