In a not-so-distant future, humanity has reached an alarmingly low level of intelligence due to years of anti-intellectualism and a culture of immediacy. Joe, an average man of our time, is selected for a military hibernation experiment in which he will be isolated for a year. However, following an unexpected malfunction, he wakes up 500 years later in a world where IQ levels have fallen to historic lows.
Upon exiting his capsule, Joe encounters a society that seems to have been built on stupidity. Stores are filled with bizarre products, people speak in incomprehensible language, and education has been replaced by the most pathetic form of entertainment imaginable. In this strange new world, Joe becomes a sort of accidental savior, as his logical reasoning and way of thinking, while not impressive by our standards, make him the smartest man on the planet.
As he tries to adapt and find his place in this absurd dystopia, Joe must navigate an inept government and a system that has become more ridiculous each day. Along the way, he meets eccentric characters and hilarious situations that satirize our own reality, raising profound questions about education, progress, and the direction our society is heading. As the story unfolds, it becomes evident that perhaps the future is crazier than we could ever imagine.
