In a post-revolutionary France filled with hopelessness and inequality, an ex-convict named Jean Valjean seeks redemption after years of punishment for having stolen a loaf of bread to feed his family. Despite a society that rejects him and an unyielding police inspector, Javert, who does not forget his criminal past, Valjean reinvents himself as a prosperous businessman. However, his life becomes complicated when he encounters Fantine, a distressed woman struggling to keep her daughter Cosette safe from a life of misery.
Upon learning of Fantine's situation, Valjean takes on the responsibility for the girl and becomes her protector. His journey leads him to rescue Cosette from the clutches of the cruel innkeepers, the Thénardiers, and give her a new life. However, the past never stays behind: Javert is on Valjean's trail, determined to bring him back to prison, while social unrest in the streets of Paris intensifies.
As Cosette grows and falls in love with Marius, a young revolutionary, Valjean faces the difficult decision of sacrificing his freedom to protect his adopted "daughter." The struggle for justice, love, and redemption intertwines in a poignant narrative, highlighting the eternal battle between good and evil in a deeply wounded society.
