Brad Gluckman, a young heir to a family fortune, is a hip-hop enthusiast and sees himself as a true "gangster" despite growing up in the privileged neighborhood of Malibu. However, his extravagant lifestyle and fantasies about urban culture are not exactly well-received by his family, who are concerned about his public image. To steer Brad back on track and distance him from his "rapper" lifestyle, his father hires two low-profile actors—essentially a couple of losers—to kidnap him and "toughen him up" in the real world.
But things don’t go as planned. With his hilarious way of life and knack for turning any situation around, Brad ends up taking his captors on a series of misadventures that include parties, rap battles, and even encounters with other hip-hop characters. Meanwhile, real danger looms over him: the harsh realities of life and the misguided notion of authenticity in his fictional world.
Amid all this chaos, Brad discovers who he truly is, trying to find a balance between his roots and his love for the culture he so admires. The film combines comedy and social reflection, presenting a fun and crazy perspective on identities and the true meaning of being oneself.
