Greg Focker, a friendly nurse, finds himself in a bind when he decides to propose to his girlfriend Pam in the most inappropriate of settings: her parents' house. With his professional achievements and calm personality, he hopes to make a good impression on Pam's intimidating father, former CIA agent Jack Byrnes. But nothing could be further from reality. From the very start, Greg becomes the target of Jack's paternalistic curiosity, who, with his keen gaze and a wealth of rigorous tests, tries to uncover the supposed "secret" behind the guy who wants to marry his daughter.
As the weekend progresses, every attempt by Greg to prove his worth ends in one comedic disaster after another. From misunderstandings with the family cat to mishaps with food, his experiences are a feast of embarrassing situations that push the tension to its limits. And as if that weren't enough, Pam's muscular and successful ex-boyfriend shows up to further complicate matters.
The movie is a rollercoaster of laughs and awkward moments, exploring the dynamic between parents and children as Greg tries to survive the exhilarating experience of meeting his fiancée's family. In the end, love and acceptance intertwine in a series of entanglements that will leave you questioning: Is it really possible to impress the parents?
