In a small town in 1950s France, the life of a middle-class family unfolds in an atmosphere that is sometimes tender and sometimes unsettling. The story follows Laurent, a 14-year-old teenager who is discovering his identity and desires within an unconventional family environment. His mother, a vibrant woman with a rebellious spirit, plays a crucial role in his upbringing, encouraging him to experience the complexities of adult life through laughter and profound lessons.

However, Laurent's life takes an unexpected turn when he learns that his mother has been diagnosed with a heart condition. This revelation pushes Laurent to confront situations that challenge his notions of love, desire, and, above all, what it means to be part of a family. As he navigates his fleeting adolescence, he finds himself torn between his own longings and the reality of his mother’s vulnerability.

The story becomes a delicate portrait of family relationships, the fragility of emotions, and how love can take many forms and nuances. Between tenderness and loss, the film offers an honest exploration of growing up, leaving the viewer reflecting on the bond between family members and how they face life's challenges together.
