In a Seoul marked by chaos and repression, a taxi driver named Kim Man-seob, an ordinary man with an unyielding enthusiasm for life, finds himself caught up in an event that will change his destiny. It all begins when he receives an unusual request from a foreigner, Jürgen, a German reporter who has arrived with the intention of documenting the protests surrounding the military dictatorship in South Korea in the 1980s. Not knowing what truly awaits him, Man-seob accepts the offer to drive Jürgen to the scene of the demonstrations.
As they progress on their journey, the taxi driver realizes that the tensions in the city are much more serious than he imagined. Violence erupts, and he finds himself in the middle of a battle between the protesters and government forces. Although his instincts urge him to steer clear of the conflict, Jürgen’s determination and the sense of justice that begins to awaken in Man-seob lead him to become more involved than he had planned.
Through this odyssey, the taxi driver discovers the courage and sacrifice of those fighting for freedom. From a bold action to help the protesters to moments of reflection on his own life, Man-seob transforms from a mere chauffeur into an unexpected hero. This story not only addresses the struggle for democracy but also the power of humanity and unity in the face of adversity.
