In the 19th century, Solomon Northup is a talented violinist and a free man living with his family in New York. His life takes a devastating turn when he is kidnapped by a group of men who sell him into slavery in the southern United States. stripped of his identity and subjected to a brutal life of servitude, Solomon faces the cruelty and dehumanization that slavery entails.

Throughout his 12 years of suffering, Solomon finds himself trapped in a web of oppression, as he witnesses his spirit being tested time and time again. From the brutality of the overseer, with his lack of empathy, to the despair of other slaves who have lost hope, each encounter serves as a reminder of his heart-wrenching reality. However, amid adversity, Solomon's determination to regain his freedom and reunite with his family never wavers.

Throughout this devastating experience, Solomon forms bonds with other slaves, some of whom find comfort and mutual support in their struggle for dignity. His story is a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit in the face of oppression and injustice. With a historical backdrop, this impactful narrative explores the cost of freedom and the unyielding fight for human dignity, leaving a lasting impression about the need to remember and acknowledge the horrors of the past.
