Nicholas Van Orton, a successful but lonely investment banker in San Francisco, leads a meticulously organized and controlled life. On his 48th birthday, his brother Conrad, with whom he has a tense relationship, gives him a mysterious "game" that promises to change his perspective on life. Initially, Nicholas is skeptical, but after enrolling in the game, he discovers that his reality begins to unravel.

At first, everything seems like simple entertainment, but soon it transforms into a disturbing and dangerous experience. Nicholas becomes embroiled in a series of increasingly bizarre and terrifying events, where his friends turn into potential enemies, and his own life is at stake. As the plot unfolds, he feels threatened by an organization that seems to know everything about him and orchestrates situations that challenge his understanding of reality.

Caught in a psychological labyrinth, he questions whether what he is experiencing is a real game or a cruel experiment that has spiraled out of control. Paranoia takes hold of his mind as he tries to unravel the enigma of his life, all while struggling for his sanity and his own existence. With unexpected twists and an explosive climax, this experience will force him to confront his own fears and reevaluate what it truly means to be alive.
