In a British prison system, a new inmate named Carlin arrives at an institution where violence and brutality are an everyday occurrence. From the very first day, he faces the oppression of the guards and the violent hierarchy among the inmates. Carlin, portrayed by the charismatic Ray Winstone, is not a man who is easily intimidated; he quickly draws the attention of the other prisoners with his strong character and his refusal to submit to the corrupt system that reigns in the prison.

As he delves deeper into this harsh reality, Carlin struggles to survive while gradually beginning to question the prison rules and the role of violence in his life. He tries to foster a sense of community among the inmates, challenging those who abuse their power and seeking a way to establish a new order. But the path to change is not easy and is fraught with consequences.

The film explores dark themes of dehumanization and the fight for respect in an oppressive environment, illustrating the brutal life in prison through impactful and realistic scenes. With sharp dialogues and memorable performances, it reveals the stark truth of a group of men trying to find their place in a world that seems to have forgotten them. This work becomes a grim reflection of the struggle for dignity in a violent and desolate environment.
