In a city in the southern United States, a young and ambitious entrepreneur finds himself trapped in a world of madness and cutthroat competition when he inherits a gym. However, it's not just a simple business; the place is a refuge for a colorful group of bodybuilders, each with their own dreams and aspirations. The protagonist, played by Jeff Bridges, feels disillusioned with corporate life and is drawn to the muscular lifestyle that surrounds him.

As he delves into this new world, he begins to develop a peculiar relationship with an uninhibited bodybuilder, portrayed by a vibrant Sally Field. Together, they immerse themselves in fitness culture while he tries to keep the gym afloat against the schemes of a ruthless real estate promoter intent on tearing down the place for quick profits. Tension rises as the bodybuilders, with their unique outlook on life, band together to defend their home, leading to comedic and heartwarming situations.

The film blends drama and comedy, offering a sharp look at the obsession with body image and the search for identity in an increasingly superficial world. As our hero faces unexpected challenges, he realizes that success is not always measured in numbers or properties, but in the relationships and experiences forged along the way. A journey of self-discovery that, amid laughter and muscles, reveals what it truly means to be human.
