Bree, a transgender woman about to undergo gender affirmation surgery, receives an unexpected surprise when a young man claiming to be her son, Toby, comes into her life. Toby, who has been dealing with legal issues and a somewhat chaotic lifestyle, finds himself in a critical situation and in need of help. Despite her initial reluctance, Bree decides to help him and embarks on a road trip from California to New York.

This journey is not just physical but emotional as well. Throughout the trip, mother and son confront their own fears, prejudices, and hidden truths. Bree struggles to find her identity and reconcile with her past, while Toby seeks his place in the world, even if it means facing the secrets of his family. The road becomes a space for personal discovery, filled with complications, misunderstandings, and moments of tenderness.

Along the way, both characters encounter a variety of quirky individuals who not only enrich their adventure but also help Bree understand the complexity and beauty of life and her own identity. This heartfelt story combines comedy and drama, touching on themes of acceptance, love, and the search for truth in a world that is often hostile to what is different. Thus, the journey of mother and son transforms into a path of self-discovery that will change their lives forever.
