In the bustling New York of the 1960s, two teenagers, Valerie and Gil, become obsessed with a charismatic yet clumsy pianist who is facing his own personal disaster. As both girls navigate the complexities of adolescence, they create a fantasy world where Henry is their hero. All the daily mischief they embark on is tinged with their idealized love for this struggling musician.

Valerie and Gil's adventures take them from the classroom to the city's streets, observing Henry from a distance, always waiting for the moment when their lives will intersect. But reality presents itself in an unexpected way when they find themselves caught up in a wild plan to get closer to him, triggering a series of comic entanglements and misunderstandings. Meanwhile, Henry's life is falling apart, with an indifferent mother and fans relentlessly seeking his attention.

As the girls discover more about real life and their own identities, they also confront the disappointment of their dreams. With moments of hilarity and tenderness, the story reflects the struggle to find a balance between fantasy and reality while showcasing the sincere friendship that binds them. Amidst laughter and tears, this heartfelt tale reminds us of the complicated and beautiful journey of growing up and dealing with the world around us.
