In the southern United States, right before the Civil War, a German bounty hunter, Dr. King Schultz, frees a slave named Django. Schultz needs Django's help to identify a group of criminals who have been evading capture. In exchange, Schultz offers Django his freedom and the chance to reunite with his wife, Broomhilda, who has been sold to another owner. With an intense desire to find her, Django accepts the deal and becomes an apprentice to the cunning Schultz.

As they forge a bond, Django transforms from a submissive slave into a skilled gunslinger. Together, they travel across the country hunting bounties and gaining experience in the art of shooting. Soon, their paths lead them to Candyland, a plantation run by the fearsome Calvin Candie, a cruel man who enjoys inflicting suffering on his slaves. Disguised as a buyer interested in slave fights, Django must act cleverly to infiltrate the premises and take down Candie.

What begins as a rescue mission turns into a brutal confrontation between violence and revenge, where Django must confront not only his past but also an oppressive system, all while seeking freedom and redemption. With stylized direction and a powerful soundtrack, the plot explores themes of racism, friendship, and the titanic struggle for freedom.
