A couple from the quiet city of Ohio decides to take a trip to New York for the first time, excited about the possibility of experiencing all that the Big Apple has to offer. Henry and Nancy, played by Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn, have planned their getaway with great anticipation, but they quickly discover that the reality of urban life is very different from what they imagined.
Upon arrival, everything seems to go downhill: from losing their luggage to receiving the news that their hotel has rescheduled their reservations, their trip turns into a series of comedic misadventures. As they navigate the chaos of the city, they encounter a parade of eccentric characters, from a somewhat unreliable taxi driver to a group of very strange horseback riders. As things get more complicated, what was meant to be a romantic getaway transforms into a hilarious challenge that tests their patience and sense of humor.
Henry and Nancy must learn to survive where every corner seems to present a new obstacle. However, amidst the setbacks and the chaos, the couple begins to rediscover their love for one another, facing adversity together. In the end, their experience serves as a reminder that even in the most difficult moments, the true journey lies in the connection we share. With a plethora of outrageous situations, the film is a funny and bittersweet glimpse into what it means to be a fish out of water.
