In the summer of 1960, in a small Californian town, two lifelong friends, Henry and Nicky, face one of the most confusing stages of their lives: the transition from adolescence to adulthood. As they prepare for an uncertain future, both can't help but feel trapped by their families' expectations and the weight of their dreams. With the Vietnam War looming and their paths diverging, their friendship is put to the test.
Henry, a young man driven by his ambitions, enters into a relationship with a girl who seems to pull him out of his comfort zone, causing jealousy and tension in his bond with Nicky. On the other hand, Nicky, with a rebellious attitude, seeks to live life to the fullest and scoffs at the idea of conforming. Each of them needs to find their own identity while having fun and dealing with the responsibilities that lie ahead.
As the summer progresses, the nights are filled with car races and escapades, but also with personal conflicts and tough decisions. The arrival of a military recruiter only intensifies their dilemma about the future and what will happen to their friendship. The film is a nostalgic journey through youth, filled with laughter, tears, and lessons about the value of being oneself, friendship, and the sacrifices that come with growing up.
