On a gray and melancholy afternoon in 1930s France, a man finds himself trapped in an old building, reflecting on his life and the decisions that have led him there. His name is François, a laborer who watches as his existence crumbles into a series of memories and tragic encounters. The story unfolds in a temporal cycle, where each dawn reveals pieces of the puzzle of his life and his relationships with the characters around him.

As François relives the key moments of his story, the film introduces us to his lover, a captivating woman who embodies both his hope and his disillusionment. We also meet a jealous rival, a loyal friend, and a group of solitary characters who add complexity to his world. Each interaction is imbued with intense emotional weight, and the evocative imagery of black-and-white cinematography underscores the atmosphere of despair and longing.

The climax of the story centers on a series of fateful decisions that will lead François to confront his destiny in a dramatic moment. In the narrative, love, hatred, and redemption intertwine as daylight filters in and the murmur of everyday life becomes the echo of his choices. As the sun rises, François must discover whether the light can bring hope or if it will merely illuminate his inevitable fall.
