In the not-so-distant future, a group of intelligent apes, led by the charismatic Cornelius and his wife Zira, manages to escape from a planet ravaged by nuclear war. Surprisingly, they succeed in time travel and land in 1970s Earth. At first, they are met with curiosity and amazement, as humans cannot believe that these apes can talk and possess human-like abilities.
The couple soon becomes a media sensation; their arrival offers new hope and a different vision of coexistence between species. However, things take a dark turn when authorities, fearful of the implications that these evolved beings could destabilize society, decide to capture them for investigation. As Cornelius and Zira try to adapt to their new environment, they confront the reality of human nature, fraught with prejudice and fear.
When Zira reveals she is pregnant, the tension escalates. The existence of a future hybrid between apes and humans puts society on high alert, unleashing a hunt to eliminate the couple and their potential offspring.
