In a neighborhood in Brooklyn, we meet Vincent, a grumpy old man and a regular at the local bars, whose disorderly lifestyle is interrupted when a single mother, Maggie, moves in next door with her young son, Oliver. Vincent’s life, which consists of gambling at casinos and taking care of his cat, takes an unexpected turn when Maggie, overwhelmed by her new job, asks Vincent to look after Oliver after school. Reluctantly, the old man accepts the challenge, and as days go by, he forges an unusual friendship with the boy.

Vincent, although rough and cynical, becomes a surprising mentor to Oliver, imparting life lessons that go beyond the classroom, from self-care to navigating the real world. However, Vincent’s past, filled with questionable decisions and connections to unsavory elements, threatens to come to light, complicating his relationship with Maggie and Oliver even further.

Through this unconventional relationship, the film unfolds a blend of comedy and drama, illustrating how love can emerge from the most unexpected situations and how a hardened heart can open up to hope and redemption. With a remarkable cast, including Bill Murray, this captivating tale explores the importance of intergenerational connections and the value of looking beyond first impressions.
